Studieboek over verschillen in cultuur, normen en waarden van uiteenlopende nationaliteiten en de rol die ze spelen b? communicatie. Recensie: Eindelijk een boek over communicatie dat echt communiceert met zijn lezers in die zin dat het toegankelijk geschreven is. Jammer genoeg is de titel van het boek wel wat saai, die doet het boek eigenlijk onrecht aan. Waar gaat het over? Onbewust neem je eigenlijk altijd je eigen norm voor normaal aan. Als je vraagt of iemand iets voor je wilt doen en je krijgt ja als antwoord, dan denk je dat dit geregeld is. Echter in Japan betekent ja slechts: 'ja, ik heb je vraag gehoord' en dan zou het weleens kunnen dat hij of zij helemaal niet iets voor je kan of wil doen. Dan iets minder ver van huis, de Belgen. Je denkt: ze spreken dezelfde taal, dus gedrag en normen zullen ongeveer gelijk zijn aan de Nederlanders. Fout dus. Monetary rivalry is a fact of life in the world economy. Intense competition between international currencies like the US dollar, Europe's euro, and the Chinese yuan is profoundly political, going to the heart of the global balance of power. But what exactly is the relationship between currency and power, and what does it portend for the geopolitical standing of the United States, Europe, and China? Popular opinion holds that the days of the dollar, long the world's dominant currency, are numbered. By contrast, Currency Power argues that the current monetary rivalry still greatly favors America's greenback.
